Hi folks,
Over the years there has been tremendous interest in this Newsgroup about the
Madison Movie. As most of you know the Hydroplane Museum provided boats and
drivers for the film and I worked as the Race boat Coordinator as well as the
primary Madison driver. The film is coming out on April 22nd. It is a
limited
release in seven cities: Seattle, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago,
Cincinnati and Indianapolis. The hope is that the movie will do well enough
in
these cities to be expanded into other markets.
The movie does not have a huge promotion budget, but that doesn't mean it
won't be successful. Heck, the original Miss Madison didn't have a big budget
either but they still won the Gold Cup right?
At any rate the folks behind Madison are looking to the boat race community
to help promote the movie. I've often seen posts on this page suggesting that
we call theaters, or write letters to help the movie. Well, that is just what
they are asking us to do, but the effort to promote the movie needs to be
coordinated, and that coordination will be provided by Christine Piccione of
Ground
Force Network. She has asked that I post her website address and that anyone
who wants to be involved in the "grass roots" success of this film
go to
www.filmpr.com/madison and sign up to help.
Earlier today Christine sent me an e-mail outlining some of the reasons you
may want to get involved in promoting the movie. She asked that I put it into
my own words, but she said it all so well that I'm just going to go ahead and
post her message here.
By the way, feel free to pass this message on to any other boating list or
anyone interested in boat racing

"Hi David,
Great to talk to you on the phone. Thanks so much for helping us making
contact with folks interested in boat racing & hydroplaning. As discussed,
there
are a few ways you can get involved right now:
1. We'd love for you to post some messages
about the film on any
message boards or online meetup groups that you know of. Feel free to
put the post
in your own words and make it as natural-sounding as possible, but here are
some bullet points of things you can include:
a. This is THEIR sport this is the
first major motion picture that
features powerboat racing. We're hoping that this film brings a greater
awareness and prestige to the sport of powerboat racing
b. This is a family movie that upholds high
moral values great for
families to see together and to create excitement about the sport among younger
generations
c. This is a chance for them to be
included in our promotion team
for the film. This film does not have a huge budget, so how far the film
goes
really depends on their participation they can be PART OF THE TEAM!
d. They can sign up for more info on promoting
the film at
www.filmpr.com/madison
e. We'll be providing incentives and prizes
for those who are committed
to help out!
