U-64 Miss Vernors
| Year: 1976 Owner: Mick Shutt Driver: Mick Shutt Model Builder: Campbell Boat Works Construction: Carbon Fiber Year Built: 2004 Motor: Himax 3630-1500 Brushless Radio: Futaba Electronic Speed Control: Castle Hydra 120 Propeller: Graupner 45 Paint: White, Green, Yellow Graphics: Vinyl Notes about the Model: A new hull for 2004 from the Campbell mold. This is a real steady running boat. The U-64 saw limited action in 2006 but did win the Apple Cup in Chelan with Ron Hartley at the helm. Through the years, this hull has been a great "first boat" for many different members. Those who've driven it before Mick include Steve Twardus, Gary Hansen, Henry Marvin and Ron Hartley. Notes about the real boat: The U-64 was a 1976 Les Staudacher creation, powered by a turbocharged Allison engine and raced as MISS VERNORS. The boat posted three second-place finishes in 1978 at Detroit, Madison, and San Diego. Notes about 2009: A steady hull that’s been very forgiving for several first-time racers. Relegated to backup duty with completion of Mick’s 1978 Miss Budweiser.
