Notes about the model: A new Campbell hull in 2005 with a lot of potential. The early part of the 2006 season wasn’t kind to the Muvalong, while the boat was fast, there was always something that kept her out of the final but she did a get third place finish at the Stan Sayres Memorial. The low point came when in the President’s Cup, a buoy jumped out and remodeled her nose. Despite that, she was leading her next heat, when a blow over at the entrance of turn one ended her day. After being repaired, the second half of the season was a different story, the Muvalong finished second in the Gold Cup, and third at the Brewers Cup which would have been her first victory except for a missed buoy on the back stretch. Having only entered 8 races in 2006, the Muvalong finished 8th in Season High Points.
About the real boat: A racing partner for Such Crust III, this Jack Schafer-owned boat was built by Les Staudacher in 1953. She measures 29 feet long, 11½ feet wide and is powered by an Allison engine.." (Reprinted from This is Hydroplaning by Paul Lowney [1959]
Notes about 2007: Gary finished sixth in the Red Dot Championship Series in 2007, scoring 7,059 points.
