Notes about the model: This is the first hydro Henry has constructed. Built from Newton Marine plans, Miss Exide features custom built hardware by Jeff Campbell, graphics by Mike Gossler, and dummy motor by John Williams. It has been successful in showing speed and durability since he first began racing midway through the 2004 season. Its best showing was a second place finish at the Bernie Little Memorial race in 2005 and also won him the “Most Improved Driver” award that same year. The Miss Exide took Henry to an eighth place finish in the 2006 vintage driver points and finished eleventh overall for vintage boats. Modifications have been made in 2007 in attempt to help it stay right side up for more heat finishes.

Notes about the real boat: Driven by the hard charging Bill Brow, Miss Exide won four races between 1963 and 1965. The President’s Cup, the Madison Cup, and twice the Diamond Cup. In 1965 Bill Brow was the first driver ever to break the 120 mph qualifying mark at a Gold Cup driving the Miss Exide in front of his hometown fans in Seattle. One of the first boats to utilize nitrous, this unlimited could flat scream!

Notes about 2007: The Miss Exide did not run in 2006, having been replaced by the 1970 Miss U.S. It's not clear whether Henry has plans to shelve the Exide or if she'll be back on the water again, but she's one heck of a boat.
