Notes about the real boat: The Pride of Pay 'n Pak that Tommy "Tucker" Fults drove in the 1969 San Diego Gold Cup was a new boat in only its first race. It was a replacement for the original Pride of Pay 'n Pak, an experimental trimaran hull, that had raced earlier in the season. Pride of Pay 'n Pak the second was built in 1967 by Les Staudacher and was originally intended for the Miss Budweiser team. But after Staudacher's Notre Dame crashed at Seattle in 1967, Les canceled the order. The boat that Fults drove at San Diego in 1969 surfaced in mid-season 1970 as Pay 'n Pak's Lil' Buzzard. The Buzzard won the 1970 Tri-Cities Atomic Cup and turned the fastest heat of the 1970 season at Seattle (108.433 MPH) with Fults at the wheel. The Buzzard was a teammate to the third Pride of Pay 'n Pak, a twin-Chrysler-powered cabover hull, designed by Ron Jones. Pay 'n Pak Lil' Buzzard's racing career ended on the same body of water where it began. The boat was involved in a testing accident on San Diego's Mission Bay in 1970 and Tommy Fults was fatally injured. The Buzzard sat in storage for a number of years and eventually became an Atlas Van Lines display hull. Currently owned by John Freeman, the boat participated in the filming of the Madison movie in 1999 and carried the name Atlas Van Lines. (Form: Fred Farley — Hydroprop history)
Notes about 2007: Finished third in the Red Dot Championship Series, vintage class with 11,514 points as Jeff's "non-points boat" at 10 races.
