U-25 Miss Spokane
| Year: 1960 Owner: Patrick Gleason Driver: Patrick Gleason Model Builder: Roger Newton Construction: Fiberglass Year Built: 1998 Motor: Astro 25/5 Radio: JR Electronic Speed Control: RC-Hydros Propellor: 2 Blade Paint Colors: Lilac and Purple Graphics: Vinyl Notes about the model: The Miss Spokane is the most successful fiberglass boat thus far in 1/10th scale electric racing history. When the equipment is performing well, its a tough team to beat. This hull was popped out of one of the "Lost in California molds" from Newton Marine. (A few boats were made and Southern California contact was lost...and the molds!) Originally built for and raced by Tony Perman, Miss Spokane has a number of race wins over the years. The boat was acquired by Patrick Gleason in the 2006 season. Notes about the real boat: "Miss Spokane was built as a spare hull for Shanty I and Miss Wahoo. She was purchased in 1958 by Miss Spokane Hydroplane, Inc., of Spokane, Wash., and was sponsored through civic contributions. The mahogany-and-lilac boat is 29 feet long, has an 11-foot-9-inch beam, weighs 5,300 pounds and is powered by a Rolls Merlin engine. She was designed by Ted Jones and built by Les Staudacher." (Hydroplane History Page) Notes about 2006: Patrick purchased Perman’s entire RC racing inventory in his first year. With some fine tuning on the hull by Jeff Campbell and additional assistance from Perman and Roger Newton, the boat’s performance improved as the season went on. Look for further improvements in this boat’s performance in 2007 as the battery and propeller program is developed
