3-31-03 From Roger Newton:

Members of ERCU had another test run today. Several of the club members showed up at the Bellevue pond. Gary Levander with the 1964 Tahoe Miss finally got a chance to get the boat wet. This was the culmination of a 2 1/2 year effort. After a couple of runs with David Newton at the wheel Gary was quite pleased with the results. Gary cant wait to get the stick in his hands so he can be ready to go once the season starts. He will miss the first race though as he has plans to be on a boat in Aruba at that time .Tough life!!. It appears that most of the boats are thru testing and will be making the last minute adjustments for the first race of the 2003 season in two weeks. Check out the pictures from the test on the photo page.

3-24-03 Roger Newton writes: Conditions were ideal for a test session today at the site of our first race for 2003. There were nine boats that made it out on the water. The only casualty of the day was the Hawaii Kai, driven by Rookie Stephen brown. Even though the water was calm the Kai managed to get airborne and flip over backwards. A new boat was launched. Roger brought out the 1960 Miss Thriftway. He managed to get in several runs. Mike Campbell was even able to get behind the wheel of the Tway for a few runs. This was Mike's first time driving an RC and did quite well. A few of the boats really stood out. Bill Smiley's Miss Thriftway looked extremely fast and had lots of run time. Unofficially he was completing over 10 laps per run. Bill McGraw ran the outrigger Pay'n Pak. It appeared to be by far the fastest boat on the lake today. Cant wait to see what it does in competition. All in all it was a very successful test session. It was really great to see this many boats ready this early in the season. From all indications it looks like there will be at least 17-18 boats at the 2003 Sayres Memorial Race next month. Not a bad way to start the year off. Thanks to Rocky Peterson of Shady Lake for hosting our test session today. He and his neighbors cant wait for our season to start. Neither can we!!!! Check out the photo gallery.

3-21-03 A set of testing photos from Roger and David Newton are now posted
